This month has mainly been about stable building fun. We had to get everything ready for the first Saturday in December. Which in my and Barry’s typical style didn’t happen. Our friend Rusty was coming down from uni to help with the building. Rusty planned the stables for us and helped make the frames, good old Rusty. Rather than get an early night Friday, we decided we would have much more fun by going to the casino. Which we did and it was fun, but by the time we got home it was one in the morning. So getting up the next morning was hard. To start with we had to move the frames from the workshop to the field which was about a 300 meter walk including three gates and one fence to climb. After doing this twice we decided it would be better to balance five on Barry’s van roof and drive them round instead. It worked but was a bit dangerous at times, but we did it. It took 2 trips to get all the frames moved to the base. Now we had to try and get all the things together we should have got during the week. So off we went in the search of bolts, brills, ladders and other bits and pieces. We managed to get everything we needed and then headed round to Rusty’s for lunch. So in the morning we didn’t really get much done no surprise there. But the afternoon was much more productive we got all the frames bolted together and called it a day. What to do Saturday night stay in or go out. There was a lot off talk of staying in but in the end we went out. After last week Barry and I were a lot more controlled, no hangovers for us in the morning. When I woke up it was blowing a gale and raining. I didn’t think we would be doing anymore building today. But it got out in the end so we went and got Rusty and stared nailing on the sides of our stables which were now starting to look like stables kinda no doors or fronts but kinda stable shaped. I didn’t get a chance to ride Lola this weekend But Rachel took her out on Friday with Barry and Annie. And said she was well behaved so that was good. David |
